Red Hawk

As I was setting up my covered porch to do some online work (that would be moving the table away from the sun and setting up the portable fan, all so that I can watch the backyard birds my husband has worked so hard to attract by setting up birdfeeders, a birdbath, and lots of foliage), I heard an unmistakable scream of a hawk.

This is something I had never heard other than on the television (or my computer), and yet it was unmistakable. Overhead flew a dark shape with a squared off tail and red markings, definite signs of a hawk. Here's an excellent site to hear the unmistakable call of this raptor.
