HD Childree taught high school English from 1997 to 2014 in central Florida. She earned an MEd in instructional technology from the University of West Florida in 2005 and completed a Graduate Certificate in Teaching College Composition at the University of South Florida, Tampa in December 2013. HD began adjuncting as a college professor in August 2014. She earned an MA in English at Arizona State University's New School of Interdisciplinary Studies in December 2017, which included a study abroad at Oxford University Summer 2017. Her professional research includes grammar book creation in eighteenth century England, third wave feminism and autocritography, male homosocial desire in William Shakespeare and Thomas Otway, and social justice issues.  Other interests include reading (no matter what), sewing and cooking (when the mood strikes), and learning something new every day. She currently is a professor of English, co-coordinator of the Writing Studio, and sponsor of the Creative Writing Club at Polk State College.
